"On Golden Pond" Opens in May

Winder-Barrow Community Theatre is proud to announce the cast of the upcoming production of “On Golden Pond” by Ernest Thompson. The show, directed by Leslie Kimbell, will open at the Colleen O. Williams Theater in Winder on May 14th and run for two weekends. This love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer takes place on Golden Pond as they return for their 48th summer. He is almost 80 years old and is a retired professor with heart palpitations and a failing memory, but he is still as tart-tongued, observant and eager for life as ever. Ethel is a few years younger and delights in all the small things that have enriched their life together. Their summer is interrupted by a visit from their divorced daughter and her fiancé who convince the Thayers to take care of his son while they take a trip. The boy quickly becomes the “grandchild” the elderly couple have longed for.
The dialogue between Norman and the young boy is a little salty at times so WBCT does not recommend this show for younger teens and children.
Tickets will go on sale during April at both ticket locations. Credit / debit card orders can be made at Winder City Hall at 770-867-3106. Check and cash orders can be made at Pam Veader’s State Farm Insurance office at 41 S. Center Street in Winder (770-867-1679). Tickets purchased in advance are $12.50 for adults and $10.00 for seniors (55 and older), teachers, and students. Prices at the door are slightly higher.
