WBCT Donates to AHS Drama Department
Published on: October 28, 2024
Words cannot express our gratitude for the generosity of our patrons throughout the run of "Nunsense - A Musical." Winder-Barrow Community Theatre was able to give over $1300 to the Apalachee Drama department thanks to your wonderful contributions and WBCT's ongoing efforts to donate a portion of ticket proceeds to a local organization.
We asked director Ruth Hasty to share her thoughts about this experience.
"It was my honor to present the Apalachee Drama Department with the contributions and donations from our theatre and our community this past week. Terri Duffield (Apalachee’s drama teacher) and I met at WBCT and became fast friends almost 15 years ago. Terri accepted the position of drama teacher half way through the 23/24 school year, and started the 24/25 year ready reinvigorate the program. Her love of the theatre is felt in everything she has done with WBCT and is now an amazing asset to her students.
If the events of September 4th taught me anything it was that we should never take tomorrow for granted. I was truly blessed to receive notice very early that my loved ones at Apalachee were safe that day and the love our community and those beyond it have shown in the days since is an inspiration.
Walking into the classroom with those students to present them with the funds, I found their excitement contagious. It was amazing to see their passion for theatre, their gratitude to our community and I am certain that they will bring to life some amazing performances in the coming months. It feels amazing to know that through WBCT we get to be a small part of that of the journey with them!"
